COVID-19 Testing and Results

Due to more people testing positive for COVID-19 and the emergence of the Omicron variant, case and contact management practices have changed. BCHU will not contact all positive cases who have received a PCR test as it has done in the past. More information can be found on our Information for those who are symptomatic, test positive for COVID-19, or are close contacts webpage.

For information about PCR and rapid antigen testing (including eligibility and how to get one), please visit the Provincial website.

Check your test results online at http://covid-19.ontario.ca . You will need a form of ID to access your results. Results can take up to 4 days to be posted online.

If you are having problems entering your identity information, make sure you:

    • Enter the health card information correctly
    • Use the correct card (you can use an expired health card until the new one arrives)
    • Use the address connected with the health card (If you moved and did not update your health card, use the old postal code)

If you cannot access test results through this site, contact the testing location, your doctor, or health care provider. If you were tested at the Brant Community Healthcare System’s Assessment Centre, please phone their hotline at 519-751-5818. As test results may take up to 4 days, they are unable to search for results before this time.

You must self-isolate immediately to protect those around you.

Please see our information for those who are symptomatic, test positive for COVID-19, or are close contacts webpage for more information.

Please visit the Ontario Government’s website for more information about antiviral treatments https://covid-19.ontario.ca/covid-19-antiviral-treatment

A single negative rapid antigen test does not rule out a COVID-19 infection. If two consecutive rapid antigen tests, separated by at least 24-48 hours, are both negative, you are less likely to have a COVID-19 infection.

If two consecutive rapid antigen tests, separated by 24-48 hours, are both negative, you are less likely to have COVID-19 infection, and you are advised to self-isolate until you have no fever and symptoms are improving for at least 24 hours (or 48 hours if gastrointestinal symptoms)

If you test negative for COVID-19, you did not have detectable virus at the time your sample was collected. This does not mean you will not get sick. It also does not mean that you will not be exposed to, test positive for or become sick with COVID-19 at any time after your test.

The test result only means that you did not have detectable COVID-19 at the time of testing.

No. This is not an antibody/serology test. This swab test only determines if you have COVID-19 at the time the test is collected. Please contact your doctor if you need an antibody/serology test.
