Brantford, ON — The Board of Health of the Brant County Health Unit is pleased to announce that Dr. Elizabeth Urbantke will be joining the Brant County Health Unit as the new Acting Medical Officer of Health.
“We are pleased Dr. Urbantke will be taking on this role. The Board is confident her skills and experience make her the right person to take on this work of ensuring the health and safety of our community,” says Greg Anderson, Board Chair.
Dr. Urbantke brings with her over 20 years of experience from her previous roles as an emergency physician, the Chief of Woodstock General Hospital’s emergency department, an Investigating and Inquest Coroner, and Acting Medical Officer of Health for Oxford County and Haldimand-Norfolk Health Units.
She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto in 1995, finished her residency in family and emergency medicine at the University of British Columbia in 1998, and is currently completing her Masters of Public Health at the University of Waterloo.
Dr. Urbantke will be joining the Health Unit on September 3, 2019 as a Public Health Physician, transitioning to Acting Medical Officer of Health on October 1, 2019.
