Prenatal Classes

The location of our 2023 In-Person Prenatal Classes has moved to the Brantford Public Library, 173 Colborne Street.  See below for Parking Instructions.

Our in-person prenatal classes are one, two-hour classes. You’ll have the opportunity to practice skills and ask public health nurses (PHN) your questions. Please visit our Clinics and Classes page for upcoming dates to register for either online or in-person classes.

We are now offering VIRTUAL Breastfeeding and Labour & Delivery in a combined two-hour class as well as one-on-one prenatal visits with a PHN. You will receive a Microsoft Teams link sent to your email address the week prior to the class date.

Virtual Breastfeeding (1 hour)
Understanding the importance of breastfeeding and how to prepare prenatally, including hand expression, infant feeding cues, breastfeeding positions, and available community support.

Virtual Labour & Delivery (1 hour)
Topics including informed decision-making, signs of labour/comfort measures, birth experience, routine infant care and postpartum mood.

Prenatal Appointments with a Public Health Nurse (Virtual – Teams/Phone Call)
Email childhealth@bchu.org to book a one-on-one appointment with a PHN to discuss any questions related to pregnancy, becoming a parent and/or taking care of your baby. Specify three days and your preference of morning or afternoon and we will send you the link for the appointment to your email.

Cost: Free

Parking: On street parking is available downtown and is free for up to two hours on weekdays. There is one wheelchair accessible parking space located outside the front entrance on Colborne Street. Parking is also available in the Market Centre Parkade located at 59 Icomm Drive, behind the Main Branch. This lot has hourly and daily parking rates on weekdays.
