Infectious Disease

We help to reduce and eliminate infectious diseases by:

  • Monitoring and following up on reportable diseases
  • Responding to infectious disease outbreaks in the community and healthcare settings
  • Showing others how to prevent disease
  • Promoting community immunization

Brant County experiences two to four active tuberculosis (TB) cases per year and 30-40 inactive cases. By law, all TB cases must be reported to the health unit.

We help control TB by working with individuals, agencies, health care providers, and infected patients. Our program offers:

  • Tuberculosis (TB) skin test (TST) (For individuals who have been named as a contact with a person who has TB disease, or when requested by a physician for Immigration Medical Surveillance)
  • Infectious case identification follow up
For questions about TB and our program, please call 519-753-4937 ext. 454.
